About The Lecture
Join Dr Jo Poppleton from the University of East Anglia for an introduction to her translation of The Odyssey. She will examine examples of xenia in Homer's epic, the rituals through which relationships are formed, and explore how they pose a threat to strangers. Dr Calum Maciver from the University of Edinburgh will then present Alternative Achilles Stories in Homer's Iliad which will introduce you to neoanalysis and its use for interpreting characterisation of Achilles.
