About the Taster Lecture

Join this taster lecture to explore whether mechanical engineering is the right course for you. Throughout the session you will explore questions such as will you be able to recognise the sound of a blocked sewer? How do you maintain this ancient labyrinth? How do robots detect things in the dark?


  • 4pm: Sewer talk. Vote on which sounds correspond to a blocked sewer

  • 4.25pm: Interactive exercise, 'Draw the lines of pressure'

  • 4.35pm: Want to be an engineer?

  • 4.40pm: Q&A session with current undergraduate students


Who is this taster lecture suitable for?

Students in IB1 and IB2 who are interested in studying Mechanical Engineering at university.


Please do not register to attend if you have any lessons or other pre-planned activities which may overlap with this taster lecture, unless you have received authorised permission to do so.
